Chelsea transfer news: Marc Cucurella appears close to joining Manchester United, however a twist has appeared with Mauricio Pochettino's latest decision
It comes as the Spaniard looks set to make an exit from the Blues in the final few days of the summer transfer window to join rivals Manchester United. Cucurella has struggled since making the £62million switch from Brighton last year, following an impressive spell with the Seagulls.
The 25-year-old became synonymous with head coach Graham Potter, with both becoming wildly unpopular as results took a turn for the worst. Coming into this campaign, there was a fresh slate under Pochettino as the former Tottenham manager took over to try and turn fortunes around.
However, there was a twist as Manchester United joined the race following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in recent weeks. Cucurella was viewed as the priority target before the transfer deadline, with a loan offer made by the Red Devils.
The deal appears to be moving closer as Marca reports that an agreement is very close over a £3million loan fee, with personal terms already sorted. It means an announcement could come as soon as Thursday, with the deadline just one day later to complete a move.
It remains to be seen how much the game against Wimbledon could impact though, especially if an unexpected injury were to come into play.
