Chelsea transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino can make two bold decisions this summer that could save the Blues over £100million
"They have the profile. Only they need time. They are young. We cannot forget we are in Chelsea, the pressure is always to win. They need to have the place, to have time to evolve but yes the profile is good."
Despite Pochettino being impressed with the trio, he has recently admitted there is a clear need for further additions in the centre of the pitch. "Yes I think we need [a player] there [in midfield], for sure," he told ESPN. "But I think it is clear. Everyone knows that we need maybe to add some players there."
However, Casadei, Santos and Chukwuemeka have all made a case to remain in west London for the season. Casadei in particular could save Pochettino £45million at least if a loan move is not sanctioned with Southampton asking for that sum to green light an exit for Blues target Romeo Lavia.
Elsewhere, Ian Maatsan was another to shine in the win over Wrexham with the attack-minded full-back netting twice. Pochettino appears to now have a major problem at left-back with Maatsen competing with Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Lewis Hall for the spot.
The latter of those names is still considered to be better in midfield but he can also play in the position three senior stars want. Maatsen impressed on loan at Burnley in the Championship but they are yet to match Chelsea's asking price to seal a permanent switch which has seen Maatsen heavily involved in pre-season.
Chelsea signed Cucurella in a deal totalling £63million last summer and recouping that full amount is sure to be a challenge, however if any left-back were to depart soon off current form it would likely be Cucurella with Maatsen then taking his spot in the squad.
