Pochettino's Tottenham squad gear up on San Siro turf for Champions League opener

Mauricio Pochettino put his depleted Tottenham squad to work on the eve of their Champions League opener with Inter Milan.

Tottenham, coming into the game on the back of their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Wembley, appeared in high spirits as they trained on the San Siro turf despite having a number of key names missing.

Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Mousa Dembele and Co were pictured taking part in stretching drills before enjoying a spot of ball work as they put the final touches to their preparations on Monday evening.

Despite the mood in the camp being relaxed, they will face a difficult task against Inter as they look to make the perfect start in the Champions League without some mainstay players.

Tottenham boss Pochettino has left Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier out of his squad.

When asked during his press conference on Monday why the duo were not going to feature against Inter, Pochettino — who seemed tetchy — said only that it was a 'technical decision'.

It is understood that Belgian centre half Alderweireld and England right back Trippier are likely being rested after both had exhausting World Cup campaigns and also featured for their respective countries during the recent international break.

Serge Aurier is set to start in place of Trippier, while Colombian Davinson Sanchez will come in for Alderweireld.

Tottenham will also be without World Cup winner Hugo Lloris and England midfielder Dele Alli on Tuesday.
