Paul Pogba believes Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival at Old Trafford will help 'raise the level' of the Manchester United team.

Ronaldo returned to the Red Devils this summer after completing a £19.8million move from Juventus, 12 years on from his departure for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Pogba - who also returned to United five years ago after leaving for free in 2012- says it if beneficial for the squad to train with a 'great player'.

The French midfielder told Telefoot, via Get Football News France: 'It's always a pleasure to play with the best.

It's also a plus for the players to be able to train with a great player. He's going to raise the level of the team.'

Speaking previously to Sky Sports, Pogba also said that Ronaldo's 'experience' would help point Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men in the right direction for the 2021-2022 season.

He said: 'Everybody knows [what Ronaldo brings]. He's already a legend in this club and he's coming back, so obviously it's huge for us, for the club.

'He's going to bring his experience, his quality and obviously when he comes the level [of the team] goes up.'

Pogba will play alongside Ronaldo for the first time in his career this season. It is believed the pair will strike up a formidable partnership.

Having already registered five assists in the opening three matches of the 2021-2022 campaign, Pogba will be looking to add to his tally by supplying Ronaldo will a steady stream of passes.

Pogba also has a track record of playing well with star around him - having excelled alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Both Ibrahimovic and Pogba arrived at Old Trafford ahead of the 2016-17 campaign and established a delightful partnership.

Should Pogba and Ronaldo be able to do the same, Manchester United could be in with a shout of challenging for the Premier League title.

However, balancing a squad filled with the likes of Pogba, Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood and more will put Solskjaer’s man management skills to the test.
