The Blues will be hoping to finish in the Premier League top four despite being 11 points off Tottenham
Chelsea boss Graham Potter has insisted his players must focus on one game at a time in the hope they can impact the Premier League top four. Heading into the clash against Leicester, the Blues sit 10th in the table and are 11 points off Tottenham, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.
The focus of Manchester City and Arsenal will be on the title race, with third-placed Manchester United seven points away from dropping out of the top four. Based on that, there is likely to be just one spot up for grabs and it will likely be contested between Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham.
Although, like Chelsea, Brighton, Brentford and Fulham will feel as though they can impact the European football race. Of the six teams alongside Chelsea with ambitions to play in the Champions League next season, Tottenham and Fulham are the only teams the Blues don't play again this season, meaning their top-four fate could be firmly in their own hands.
"I wouldn’t say it’s a lack of belief. I think it’s a realisation we are where we are and rather than think too far that way then zoom into the next one. If you win the next one, move to the next one and have the same approach.
"If you carry on that and things are good, then who knows what happens at the end of the season. At the moment we need to stick to the next game.
"I am more focussed on the next game. So I try and keep it to that, that’s where our energy is to build on what we have achieved, that's only a couple of games, and then try to win against Leicester.”
