Manchester City are now 3/4 favourites in bwin's Premier League winner odds after returning to the top of the table with a 2-0 triumph at Everton.
Goals in added time at the end of each half from Aymeric Laporte and substitute Gabriel Jesus put the defending champions back at the summit for the first time in two months.
“The reality is we could have been, one month ago, 10 points behind when we played Liverpool,” said Pep Guardiola.
“A few days ago, we could have been seven points behind. Now we are top of the league.
“The lesson is never give up. That is a lesson for all athletes. Try to win the games, because life can change immediately.”
Liverpool have dropped points in back-to-back draws against Leicester and West Ham, but do only trail City on goal difference and have a game in hand.
The Reds are 6/5 to claim a first title since 1990 ahead of Saturday's clash with Bournemouth at Anfield, with City entertaining Chelsea a day later.
Andy Robertson believes Liverpool are experiencing no more than a “blip”, with injuries to Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold having an influence.
“I wouldn't say nerves are showing,” the 24-year-old said. “Did anyone say that when City dropped points against Palace and Leicester? I don't think they did.
“It's no different for us – people talk about pressure because we've not been in this position, but it's February.
“Everyone needs to relax and try and enjoy the run-in – many other clubs want to be in the position we're in just now.”
Spurs still in the hunt
Tottenham are five points off the pace and quoted at 20/1 in bwin's Premier League winner odds as they continue to hang in there without the injured Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
Son Heung-min's late strike helped them to beat Newcastle 1-0, giving Spurs a third straight narrow win in this competition.
Midfielder Harry Winks said: “All we do is take it game by game and focus on the next opposition.
“At the end of the season, we will be looking into that and see where the title is.
“We have still got Man City to go to and Liverpool to go to, they are two games that if we want to be title contenders we have to win.
“For now, we are happy with the position we are in, we are doing really well and that is the most important thing.”
Spurs are 11/100 to finish in the top four, while Chelsea are 67/100 for the same bet after crushing Huddersfield 5-0 over the weekend.
That put the Blues on 50 points, two ahead of Manchester United, who are 27/20 to make the leading quartet following a 1-0 victory at Leicester.
Arsenal are another point back in sixth after losing 3-1 at Manchester City on Sunday and available at 3/1 here.
