Liverpool's youngest ever goalscorer Ben Woodburn has signed for Preston North End.

Woodburn was training with North End in a bid to secure his future after being released by Jurgen Klopp.

The 22-year-old had agreed to a two-week trial with the Championship club in order to maintain his fitness and try and impress manager Ryan Lowe.

The Wales international remains Liverpool's youngest goalscorer when he netted against Leeds aged 17 years, 45 days.

He made a total of 11 first-team appearances for Liverpool with his contract expiring this summer.

Woodburn had a spell on loan with Hearts last season reaching the Scottish Cup final and securing European football for the Edinburgh club.

He has now agreed a one year deal at North End.

Woodburn is the club's first signing from the back of finishing 13th in the Championship last season.

Lowe's side will begin their season with a trip to Wigan on July 30 before hosting Hull City the following week.
