Price of Chelsea and PSG target Gabriel Moscardo doubles

Paris Saint-Germain look to have a bidding war on their hands if they want to acquire the services of Gabriel Moscardo (18) from Corinthians.

The young Brazilian midfielder had caught the attention of Les Parisiens with Foot Mercato reporting that the club had offered €22 million for his services. However, it has become increasingly clear that PSG must pay at least double that price to stand any chance of signing the player, with Chelsea and Barcelona also reportedly interested in making a deal.

The Brazilian club are amid a presidential handover, with the incumbent President Duilio Monteiro scheduled to step down in January when his replacement Augusto Melo will take charge.

According to Foot Mercato, any bid accepted by the current regime will have to be ratified by Melo, who has struck a more bellicose figure in negotiations. With the incoming President recalling a conversation he had with Chelsea’s owner Todd Boehly, “I told him I wouldn’t sell. I would never sell for what they were offering. It needs to be more than €40 million at least.”

It’s obvious that Melo understands he has a talent on his hands, and with three clubs circling the waters, the soon-to-be President will look to turn Moscardo into an extremely profitable transfer: “he will be our third-best sale, at least. He’s an 18-year-old boy, he’s in transition, he’s gaining weight. He will mature further so that we can sell him for three or four times more than his worth.”
