Europa League football is the limit of RB Leipzig’s ambitions when they welcome Manchester City to the Red Bull Arena for Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Leipzig have no chance of reaching the knockout stages after taking just four points from five group games so far and must at least equal Club Brugge's result against PSG in order to secure third place.
Beaten 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium in the reverse encounter, Leipzig are 23/10 (3.30) outsiders with bet365 to salvage a place in the Europa League by coming out on top in this one.
In contrast, Pep Guardiola’s men are already sure of top spot in Group A as they sit four points clear of PSG and Man City are priced at even money (2.0) to come out on top.
Just one of the hosts’ previous 17 fixtures in this competition has resulted in a draw, but you can get odds of 14/5 (3.80) on them playing out a creditable stalemate here.
Andre Silva is the hosts’ 11/2 (6.50) favourite to break the deadlock with just a sixth goal of the campaign, although Christopher Nkunku looks a better bet at 15/2 (8.50) considering he has hit the net seven times in just five group games so far.
Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus are both priced at 13/2 (7.50) to open the scoring, with Bernardo Silva offering tempting value at 10/1 (11.0) following five goals in his last six fixtures.
Assistant coach Achim Beierlorzer will take charge of the home side following Jesse Marsch’s dismissal, with the American made to pay for a run of three consecutive Bundesliga defeats that have left the team floundering in mid-table.
It is hard to see him turning that form around against a high-flying City side that come into this game on the back of a seven-game winning streak and who ran out comfortable winners in the previous encounter.
In fact, even money (2.0) actually seems fairly generous on even a weakened City team coming out on top, particularly as Leipzig know that they are likely to finish third in the group anyway as Club Brugge face a difficult trip to Paris in the other game.
