Ralf Rangnick passes verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea

Ralf Rangnick has served up praise for veteran duo Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea following Manchester United's slender victory over Norwich, but offered no guarantees on the respective future of either star.

United left Carrow Road with an unconvincing 1-0 victory, thanks in large part to both Ronaldo and Spanish stopper De Gea.

Ronaldo won and slotted home the decisive match-winning penalty, while a string of spellbinding saves from De Gea very much kept United's hopes alive.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Rangnick outlined his happiness but would not rule out resting talisman Ronaldo in the upcoming fixtures.

'I don't know,' Rangnick said when the prospect of resting Ronaldo was raised.

'So far, I'm happy with his body language, his input on the team.

'He wants to win games, this is what it's all about, and the way that he won the penalty and converted the penalty, that's why we're happy to have him.'

Turning his focus onto the man between the sticks, Rangnick stopped short of declaring De Gea the best goalkeeper in the world, but praised his 'fantastic' efforts.

'I don't know, to be honest, there are also other good goalkeepers, like Manuel Neuer, for example,' Rangnick said.

'But so far, what I've seen from David is fantastic.

'An outstanding performance today and also against Crystal Palace, although there was not that much for him to do in that game.

'But today he definitely had three or four brilliant, outstanding saves.'

Rangnick now has two wins from his three matches in charge, with United sitting fifth in the table on 27 points - one adrift of fourth placed West Ham.
