Aaron Ramsdale has revealed Mikel Arteta showed the Arsenal squad a clip from Amazon's 'All or Nothing' documentary after their defeat to Newcastle last season before their victory on Sunday.
Arteta's side closed the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City City with a 2-0 win over the Magpies thanks to Martin Odegaard's first half strike and Fabian Schar's own-goal.
It was a contrast to Arsenal's trip to St James' Park last season when their top-four hopes were all but ended as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat.
Ramsdale said: 'There is immense pride and a bit of relief as well. Especially after the talk of what happened last year to come here and put on a performance. To impose ourselves on this game and the crowd, I am really proud.
'It (last season's match) wasn’t mentioned until the meeting before we left the hotel. The manager showed us a clip of the documentary last year, showed us all of our faces and staff included, showed how hurt we were feeling. We had the burning desire that it wouldn’t be the same today.
'It might have given us extra motivation. At the end of the day we are fighting against Man City to do something special, I think it gave us that extra bit when we had to dig deep.
'It might not be [enjoyable in the atmosphere] for everyone else but I really enjoy it. There is nothing else you can ask for for fans to be screaming for one team, then our away fans packing out the away end.
'Once you ride the storm you have to be composed and then play. We deserved the lead, I think we were lucky when they hit the post, but from then on we were in control.
Arteta obscene, sweary rant after last season's loss, that effectively cost them Champions League football, was aired in Amazon's documentary.
He said: 'It doesn't matter what I say, it doesn't matter what you say, now it's too late. They were 10,000 times better than us today.
'In everything, with earning the right to play, we didn't win a f***ing duel, we didn't win a second ball, we were horrible with the f***ing ball.
'With the organisation, we have nothing, guys. No-thing. So now, shut your mouth and eat it. We could have conceded eight goals. If you see their chances (now), you will cry.
'You will cry the way we have competed. It's not that we competed (badly), we didn't compete at all in the game. It's f***ing embarrassing to come here and work the way we have done it. Embarrassing, guys.
'What happened today is f***ing unacceptable. And if you accept something like this, you live in a different world, guys. A different world.'
After sitting down and taking 15 seconds to compose himself, Arteta continued on his furious speech.
He added: 'Don't worry, I will face the people (media). Today it is hard to defend you, guys, hard. I will take all the s*** again, no worries. But we prepare to start tomorrow to start training, to be there, because we have our fans there.
'You never know what happens in football. They (Tottenham) might lose at Norwich. You don't know,' before storming out.
Tottenham went on to beat the relegated Canaries 5-0 on the final day, and although Arsenal thrashed Everton 5-1, it proved too little, too late.
The Gunners took a Europa League spot after finishing two points behind Antonio Conte's Tottenham, who had beaten them 3-0 earlier in May.
