Claudio Ranieri urges Sampdoria to ‘prove this team isn’t what we’ve seen so far this season’ ahead of their trip to Fiorentina.
The Blucerchiati have lost both their Serie A matches so far this season and are back on the pitch tomorrow evening.
“We need to start picking up points against a team that has strengthened a great deal in recent months,” said Ranieri on the club website.
“Above all, we must prove this team isn’t what we’ve seen so far this season. I know my squad and the quality that it has.
“Fiorentina are a tough opponent, they were winning until the final minute against Inter, and have immense attacking potential. This is a side that was built very well.”
The Viola coach is Beppe Iachini, a very familiar figure to Ranieri.
“He was my player in Florence and I have great memories of him. We won the Serie B title with Fiorentina in 1993-94, were promoted to Serie A, but then he wanted to leave.
“Iachini gave so much energy to the team.”
