Rashford can equal Ibrahimovic's scoring record in Watford clash

It has already been a season to remember for Marcus Rashford at Manchester United.

Following the summer departure of Romelu Lukaku, the side needed someone to step up and fill the void up front, and the England international has done just that.

Speaking during United's pre-season tour of Australia Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cited Rashford as a player capable of netting 20 goals for the club this season.

"Marcus, Anthony (Martial) Rom, they've all got 20 goals in them. So let's see who hits form, potential is one thing. If you get into the rhythm, a striker who gets into a good vein of form."

Rashford netted again for United in midweek to take his tally to 14 in all competitions, already matching his best ever output for a single season, and it seems certain he'll set a new personal record this campaign.

Ten of the 22-year-old's strikes have come in the Premier League this season and he goes into Sunday's meeting with Watford fully confident of adding another to his tally.

In fact, if he does that then he will match a club scoring record currently held by fan favourite Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

With 10 league goals this season, Rashford not only has one more than Watford as a team, but he could become the first United player since Ibrahimovic to score at least 11 goals before Christmas in a single league campaign.

A goal and three points this weekend and Christmas really could come early for the young forward.

Here are the top five Man Utd players that scored most goals before Christmas in Premier League in the last seven seasons(according to Skysports).

Ibrahimovic 11 goals 2016-2017

Rashford 10 goals 2019-2020

Lukaku 10 goals 2017-2018

Martial 8 goals 2018-2019

Rooney 8 goals 2013-2014
