Rashford celebrates birthday by 'giving money to trick or treaters'

While people all over the country were celebrating Halloween with parties or by going trick-or-treating, Marcus Rashford was marking October 31 for a different reason.

The Manchester United and England forward turned 21 on Wednesday, and marked the occasion with a couple of delicious looking birthday cakes.

Rashford posed with the confections on Instagram, with one and intricate looking gold cake decorated with icing and a balloon - while the other was more personalised.

The second cake, in United red, bore the forward's name and age, as well as the badges of his club and country, both of which he represented with distinction in the past year.

Rashford accompanied the image with the caption: 'Thank you for your birthday wishes' - although numerous acts of kindness performed by the star on his big day meant many should be thanking him instead.

Earlier, Rashford was seen stopping to sign autographs for young fans as he arrived at Carrington for Manchester United training.

Also, despite it being his birthday, Rashford was reportedly the one handing out presents on the streets of Manchester on Wednesday evening.

Sports journalist Simon Austin tweeted to say Rashford had stopped to say hello to a group of young trick-or-treaters, and then rewarded them when they sang 'Happy Birthday'.

Austin wrote: 'My 8 year old has just been trick or treating with four other friends in Sale. Nice man pulled up in his car.

'Lady in passenger seat said ‘sing happy birthday, he’s 21 today’, so they did. And he gave each of them a £20 note. Thank you Marcus Rashford.'
