Rashford suffers new dream transfer blow after offer from Premier League rival

Marcus Rashford's hopes of securing a switch to Barcelona could be in jeopardy with Manchester City reportedly willing to offer them Jeremy Doku this month.

The Manchester United outcast hasn't played under Ruben Amorim for well over a month and looks to be facing an uphill battle to return to the first-team picture. As a result he's had to look at fresh options and his ideal plan is to end up in Spain.

Rashford has previously been linked with the La Liga outfit but Barcelona could now have an alternative option with those at City willing to sanction a deal for Doku before the January transfer window closes.

Sport reports that the Belgian winger, who is into his second season in Manchester, has been offered to the Catalan club with his minutes under Pep Guardiola potentially limited for the remainder of the season. Savinho is ahead of him in the pecking order whilst City have just spent big to land Omar Marmoush.

Barcelona would have to free up space in their squad if they were to make any more additions in January with Ansu Fati, who is not part of Hansi Flick's plans, potentially making way if the Spanish side do want to bring in new faces.

Any move for Doku though may block Rashford's planned exit route with the forward potentially having to leave Manchester in the coming days if he wants to be playing. He hasn't appeared in red since December 12 under Amorim with a host of clubs around Europe tracking his situation.

AC Milan had been heavily linked but their move for Kyle Walker could prohibit them from also signing Rashford. Monaco and Borussia Dortmund have also been named but their interest has since cooled.

It is understood that Rashford remains open to playing for Amorim once again and is training well, although the manager himself has continued to question his effort and made a damning statement at the weekend when quizzed on the player.

“It’s always the same reason," he said when asked about Rashford's constant omission. “The reason is the training, the way I see what a footballer should do. In training, in life and it’s every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I will not change.”
