Rasmus Hojlund is raring to go for Denmark's Euro 2024 campaign, after his first season at Manchester United.
The 21-year-old Dane and his international colleagues will play England second in this summer's tournament in Germany, with Slovenia and Serbia also in Group C.
While at Italian club Atalanta, he was omitted from Denmark's World Cup squad in 2022, but his performances since then, and the move to Man United last summer, mean that he is ready to get his first international tournament underway.
Hojlund told Tipsbladet: 'It’s going to be insanely cool. I was close to making it last time [to the World Cup in Qatar], but stumbled right at the finish line.
'I’m really looking forward to it – now we’ll first have to see if I get selected.'
While other countries, including England, have named provisional squads ahead of Euro 2024, Denmark have yet to confirm who would be making the trip - although it would be a hefty shock if Hojlund was not involved.
Hojlund has seven goals in his 12 appearances for Denmark to date, including a goal against Slovenia in qualifying for this summer's tournament.
He added: 'It means a lot to me to play on the national team, and it always has. I have always followed the national team and been a big supporter – even when things didn’t go so well.
'I am very patriotic, and it’s something very special to take the field with other Danes and play against other nations. It will always be special to me.'
Denmark are previous winners of the European Championships, in 1992, and reached the semi-finals in 2021, losing to England after extra time.
Hojlund, however, has rather modest ambitions about Denmark's hopes this time around - but wants to aid with their goalscoring however far they progress.
'I have never been the type to set a goal for myself, but of course, I will be happy if we advance from the group stage, and I can help the team along the way by scoring some goals,' Hojlund said.
Denmark have pre-tournament friendlies against Sweden on June 5 and Noway three days later, before they open their campaign against Slovenia in Stuttgart on June 16.
The Danes face England in Frankfurt four days later, before their final group stage game against Serbia in Munich on June 25.
