Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter 'are keen on signing Arsenal defender William Saliba this summer'

Arsenal outcast William Saliba has reportedly caught the eye of Real Madrid, AC Milan and rivals Inter ahead of a potential summer move.

The 20-year-old centre-back has impressed on loan in Ligue 1 again this season, playing 90 minutes in all but one of Marseille's league games in 2021-22.

And Calciomercato claim his form could spark a bidding war this summer between his current French club, LaLiga leaders Real and the Serie A giants from Milan.

The report adds that Los Blancos have even been in touch with his parent club Arsenal - who are said to value him at £25million - to discuss a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The same outlet claims all those interested are admirers of the France U21 international's strength and aggression as well as his ability in the tackle.

The Gunners signed Saliba from Saint-Etienne in 2019 in a £27m move before loaning him back to the Ligue 1 club for the season.

On his return however he was left out of Mikel Arteta's Europa League squad and failed to make a first-team appearance before joining Nice on loan for the second half of the season.

Saliba then joined a third different French side on loan in Marseille last summer, for whom he has made 29 appearances across all competitions.

But former Gunners forward Stephy Mavididi claims Saliba is 'one of the best' centre-backs he has ever faced, and believes he will walk into Arteta's side in 2022-23.

'That guy's a player,' the current Montpellier star said of Saliba in an interview with LiveScore. 'He's hands down one of the best defenders in the league, hands down.

'I think he'll walk back into the Arsenal team next season. When I played against him last year I thought: ''How is this guy not playing at Arsenal?''.

'He's strong, good on the ball, he reads the game well. Sometimes you walk off the pitch and think - fair play man, respect.

'The defender has kept up with you, out tussled you, out quitted you, you have to say fair play, this guy's a good player.

'He's one of the best centre-backs I've faced. Everyone can talk about Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Jerome Boateng, but he's up there.

'He's the one that surprised me the most. I'm an Arsenal fan too and playing against Saliba I thought, we've got a very decent defender here!'
