Casemiro brushed off the idea that Real Madrid have 'extra motivation' going into Saturday's Champions League final because Liverpool star Mohamed Salah wants to get 'revenge'.
The Reds attacker suffered what he called the worst moment of his career in Kyiv against Madrid, as he suffered a shoulder injury and was forced off in the first half after he was wrestled to the floor by Sergio Ramos.
Salah left the pitch in tears and having never forgotten that final, which Real Madrid went on to win 3-1, he recently talked up 'revenge time' in Paris on Saturday, not that Casemiro is interested.
'For me personally that's not extra motivation,' he said at Real Madrid's media day on Tuesday.
'I don't need any extra motivation to play in a Champions League final.
'If that's what Salah thinks, well, we respect that, but we're not thinking about that. We're thinking about our game.'
It strikes a much more dismissive mood than the one offered up by his team-mate Fede Valverde.
The Uruguayan midfielder called out Salah and said that he 'disrespected' the Spanish side with his 'revenge time' comments.
Valverde told Marca that Salah's comments were disrespectful to the club's badge and its players, and, unlike Casemiro, insisted they would serve as extra motivation for the final.
He said: 'Obviously they're words that everyone can take however they want. I'm his opponent and it's like disrespecting the Real Madrid badge, the players.
'The only thing we must do is give our best, try to show why we're in the final and let's hope we can give another trophy to the fans and to Real Madrid.'
It has been a busy month for Liverpool having navigated 120 minutes and penalties to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final, before pushing the Premier League title race until the final day, only to lose out by a point to Manchester City.
But Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois does not buy the idea Jurgen Klopp's side will have run out of steam ahead of the Champions League finale in Paris.
'I believe they're fine. They might obviously be more tired,' Courtois said.
'They've put in a great effort until their very last game, unlike us. We've been able to rest a bit for the last few weeks and work to get to Saturday in perfect shape.
'But at the end of the day a final is a final, and they're probably just as motivated as we are to win it.'
