Rob Edwards is one win from becoming a Premier League manager after a ‘wild season’ but says taking over from Nathan Jones was easy.
Edwards, a former FA youth coach, led Forest Green to promotion from League Two last year, which earned him a job in the Championship at Watford — only to be sacked after 10 league matches.
‘People ask me about a winning formula but it comes down to good people,’ said Edwards, 40, ahead of Saturday’s play-off final against Coventry. ‘At Forest Green there were good people, good players, a plan and time. And that’s why I left the FA.
‘I went against my better judgment with the next one but I’m back on track with this one.
‘Anyone could have come in and done what I’ve done, it’s been pretty easy really. I’m just lucky they picked me.
‘There’s a lot of love here. It’s about more than just football, it’s about people’s lives.
‘I sense it’s been like that for a while.’
