A number of young Liverpool fans were given a special surprise when they were pranked by first-team stars Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Promoting a new video game, the unsuspecting kids were asked a series of questions in front of cardboard cut outs of the three players as they hid behind the set.

Then, as the supporters posed for photographs, the trio would emerge from behind the screen to catch them by surprise.

One youngster was asked if he would change any of the stars on the front cover of the game. He replied: 'I'd get (Mohamed) Salah in there for Trent (Alexander-Arnold)', with the right back left shaking his head in disbelief and the other two in stitches.

Van Dijk was soon left red faced though as another child insisted he would swap the Dutchman for pacey attacker Sadio Mane.

With the kids facing towards the camera and posing for a celebratory picture, the trio crept out and photobombed the shot before the fans realised and were left star-struck, with one simply saying 'alright lad'.

Another group were surprised to see Firmino come out and join in the Brazilian forward's song that can be regularly heard on the Anfield terraces.

Firmino also spent time in a wig as he tried to change his appearance to look more like team-mate Salah. Evidently not the Egyptian, he quickly took it off and replaced it with a face mask of manager Jurgen Klopp.

They then pulled back the mask to reveal their true identities and once again the fans were left gobsmacked before they were confronted about their choice to switch one of them off the game's cover.

A group of four then thought they were posing with the cardboard cut outs of the players, only for their heroes to walk into the back of the photo and out again before they noticed.

It was only when they looked back at the photo they noticed and Firmino, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk quickly came out from behind the screen to greet the unsuspecting fans.

All three players are expected to feature in Liverpool's trip to Leicester on Saturday lunchtime. The Reds have won all three of their opening Premier League games and will be aiming to maintain their 100 per cent record at the King Power Stadium.
