Rodrygo explains why Mbappe joining Real Madrid would be a good problem for boss

Rodrygo has discussed the possibility of playing alongside Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid next season, calling it a 'good problem' for boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The LaLiga side have reportedly reached an agreement to sign the French star on a free transfer once his PSG deal expires, with a signing-on fee of £85.5million.

Following Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, in which Rodrygo scored a brace, the Brazilian discussed how the team could be changed with Mbappe's arrival, and how he was looking forward to the challenge.

According to Marca, Rodrygo told reporters: 'I don't know about Mbappe yet. I think it's close because everyone says it and I trust you, but I don't know what's going on either.'

Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid's coach, will have to juggle many top striking talents at the club if the Frenchman comes, with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr also on the books at the Bernabeu, along with Rodrygo.

The Brazil international, who scored his tenth Spanish league goal in Sunday's win, acknowledged: 'Yes, there are many of us. We'll see what the coach decides.'

On the possibility of his departure to make room for Mbappe, Rodrygo said: 'I don't think anything... I'm just thinking about being focused on this season and finishing it well, with as many titles as possible.'

He added: 'Next year I think it's a coach's problem... A good problem. And I'm calm.'

In February, Rodrygo heaped praise on Mbappe, and was eagerly looking forward to the concept of joining forces  in the summer.

'I would love for him to come here. I always want to play with the best players and he is one of the best in the world,' the Brazilian told AS.

'I would love to play with him, but I can't talk too much about him. He's a PSG player and I have to respect that'.

PSG won their game against Marseille on Sunday, which saw captain Mbappe substituted yet again shortly after the hour mark.

Real Madrid have an extended gap until their next match, owing to the Spanish Cup final, and have no more games until their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City on April 9.

They currently sit top of the table, eight points clear of second place Barcelona with eight games left to play.

Mail Sport previously reported that Real Madrid are ready to make Mbappe their highest earner, which would surpass the £10.3m per season that they pay Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.
