Tottenham's Cristian Romero was forced off with a head injury just seconds after scoring his team's opening goal in an eventful start to their game at Brentford.
The Argentine centre-back was involved in a clash of heads with Bees forward Bryan Mbeumo four minutes into Sunday afternoon's contest at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Both players were cleared to continue following concussion checks and Romero nodded Spurs in front on 11 minutes from James Maddison's free-kick.
In the aftermath, however, Romero was withdrawn after taking another blow in the act of scoring.
The defender seemed very reluctant to leave the field but Spurs were taking no chances as Davinson Sanchez replaced him.
Manager Ange Postecoglou appeared to be explaining to Romero why he was being taken off as well as consoling the player.
Romero's exit wasn't a concussion substitution, rather one of Spurs' five normal ones, because he didn't leave the pitch at the time of the initial clash of heads.
Spurs led for 15 minutes before Mbeumo drew Brentford level from the penalty spot after VAR adjudged that Son Heung-min had brought down Mathias Jensen inside the box.
The Bees then took the lead through Yoane Wissa nine minutes before the break, only for Spurs to make it 2-2 through Emerson Royal in first-half stoppage time.
Kick-off in west London was delayed by around seven minutes because water supplies to the stadium were interrupted.
