Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo could soon be on his way to Indonesia after being invited to the wedding of tsunami survivor Martunis.
The 22-year-old - who counts the Portuguese legend as his mentor in life - first met the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in 2005.
Ronaldo, 34, was so moved by Martunis' story that he is said to have promised to pay for his education as well as helping him travel across Europe.
The Boxing Day tsunami in 2004 claimed the lives of over 230,000 people - including Martunis' mother and two siblings.
He was found 21 days later stranded on a beach wearing the jersey of the Portuguese national team.
After learning of his story, the Portuguese Football Federation donated £34,000 to help him rebuild his home, before Ronaldo visited him in Aceh.
The duo have met on numerous occasions since their first encounter, with there last meeting coming in Turin in August at a publicity event for Singaporean marketplace Shopee.
After Martunis announced his engagement to his now-fiancee Sri Wahyuni, he was asked by a friend whether his idol would be in attendance at the wedding.
He replied by saying: "Inshallah (God willing) he will come if he is not busy."
According to local media, no date has yet been set for the big day.
Martunis almost followed in the same footsteps of Ronaldo after he trained with Sporting Lisbon for a year between 2015-2016.
But after doubts were raised about his talent, he eventually returned to Aceh in 2017 where he is now trying out his luck as a social media personality.
