Having won a huge haul of silverware during his eight seasons at Manchester United, Andy Cole has played with and against a long list of elite players.

The club have been graced by generation to generation of exceptional talents, so when Andy Cole was asked to name his all-time best Manchester United XI, it can't have been easy.

Yet, that's exactly what the forward has done with a few surprise decisions, namely the inclusion of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cole spoke of his admiration for both but didn't give much reason for the decision: 'Cristiano Ronaldo is awesome but Becks was just so good.'

Both of the wingers made a name at themselves in Manchester before becoming 'Galticos' at Real Madrid. Ronaldo's has since moved to Juventus in Serie A where Beckham also spent some time playing with AC Milan.

The Englishman spent longer in Manchester making 265 appearances to Ronaldo's 196 but it was the Portuguese forward who grabbed more goals with 84 compared to Beck's 62.

With 121 goals in 275 appearances, Cole may have been tempted to include hmiself but instead opted for Eric Cantona and Ruud Van Nistelrooy in a shocking snub to his former strike partner Dwight Yorke.

Together they were one of the most fearsome duos in England and Cole admitted it was difficult to only have Yorke on the bench: 'I initially had Yorkie down to start but Eric pipped him. He (Eric) was an unbelievable footballer and a great guy, with such a massive presence about him

'I’ll probably get a dig off Nicky Butt too, so he’s on the bench. Ole has to be there and Paul Ince. Bruce and Johnsen are my defensive back-up and my wildcard is Ronaldo.'

Cole opted for a classic 4-4-2 for his squad with an immense backline of Gary Neville, Jaap Stam, Gary Pallister and Denis Irwin with Peter Schmeichel in goal. Then joining Beckham in midfield is Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Ryan Giggs.
