Ronaldo went back on promise to swap shirts after Sorrentino's saved his penalty

It is safe to say Cristiano Ronaldo takes himself particularly seriously.

He doesn't, for instance, enjoy being embarrassed on a public stage, so it should perhaps come as no surprise that he refused to swap shirts with Stefano Sorrentino when the former Chievo goalkeeper saved one of his penalties.

Sorrentino claims Ronaldo snubbed him in January of last year when Juventus beat Chievo 3-0 in Turin.

Douglas Costa, Emre Can and Daniele Rugani all scored but Ronaldo failed to make his mark from the penalty spot when his effort was saved by Sorrentino.

The 41-year-old, who now plays as a striker for Cervo in the eighth tier of Italian football, said the pair had initially agreed to swap shirts.

But that all changed when he Ronaldo failed to profit from 12 yards with Sorrentino insisting that the Portuguese star ignored him at full-time.

Sorrentino said: 'We agreed to exchange our shirts, but after missing the penalty he was very angry.

'It had never happened to him in Italy.

'In the changing room tunnel we met, he gave me a handshake and congratulated me, but he had a bad face, and he didn't give me his shirt.

'In the end I took [Paulo] Dybala's. It went well anyway.'
