Rudiger steps up rehab with workout in Dubai as Chelsea ace vows to come back

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has reported positive news regarding his recovery from the knee injury which saw his season end in April.

Rudiger, who is currently in Dubai, took to Instagram on Friday to share videos of himself on an exercise bike and in a swimming pool.

He also uploaded a photograph of himself stretching and wrote: 'Rehab is going well — more motivated than ever to #comebackstronger'.

Chelsea team-mates Danny Drinkwater and Tammy Abraham showed their support for Rudiger by liking his post.

Rudiger has not featured for the Blues since limping out of a 1-1 draw away to Manchester United at the end of April.

It had been hoped that the 26-year-old may return to action at the same venue, with Chelsea set to begin their 2019-20 Premier League campaign at Old Trafford on August 11.

But both Chelsea and Rudiger are cautious about him rushing back. After undergoing surgery earlier this year, Rudiger is prepared to stay patient and is therefore expected to miss Chelsea's Premier League opener.

He will also sit out the UEFA Super Cup clash with Liverpool in Istanbul on August 14 if he does not feel 100 per cent ready.
