A lot has changed for Ryan Giggs in 26 years. For starters he's collected 13 Premier League winner's medals, four FA Cups, two League Cups and two Champions Leagues. He's sporting a grey beard now. And, sadly, it also seems he's lost a Soviet militia hat.
That's judging by the evidence of a picture posted by his friend and former Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville, who has snapped Giggs standing in Moscow's Red Square during the World Cup.
Neville contrasted the Giggs of today, now aged 44, with the fresh-faced 18-year-old who posed for a picture in the same spot on a trip to Moscow while on Manchester United duty.
The pals had gone with United to play Torpedo Moscow in the UEFA Cup in 1992, a tie that ended in a defeat on penalties after goalless draws both at Old Trafford and at the Torpedo Stadium - but it looks as though Giggs enjoyed his trip anyway.
The former United winger, who is now Wales manager, wore that Soviet Militia hat for his picture outside the famous domes of St Basil's Cathedral, and looked delighted to be standing outside Russia's most famous landmark.
For his recent picture, Giggs wore a baseball cap and dark glasses, and looked rather less impressed at having his picture taken.
'Eating with this man tonight and we were talking about 26 years difference between Moscow trip number 1 and Moscow trip now!' wrote Neville alongside the picture. Both are working as pundits for ITV during the World Cup.
Neville also shared another picture from the same trip in 1992, featuring himself sandwiched by David Beckham and Nicky Butt, with the trio also fresh out of United's famous Class of 92 youth team.
Out of the four friends, only Giggs played in the defeat by Torpedo Moscow, although he is also the only one of the quartet who never played in a World Cup.
