Sadio Mane has emphasised he is 'honestly very happy' at Liverpool despite links to a move away.

The Senegalese forward, 30, scored a clever header which proved the winner as the Reds edged past Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday.

And Mane insisted he is content at Anfield - despite reports his agent Hasan Salihamidzic held talks with Bayern Munich on Friday, amid further links to Spanish giants Barcelona.

He said: 'Yeah, I am happy here, I think when we win trophies I am happier! But I think I am trying to enjoy every moment, trying to assist my team mates and I think the boys make it a lot easier for me.

'I am honestly very happy. I am just trying to enjoy every moment and assist my teammates. Without my teammates I'm nothing.'

Manager Jurgen Klopp said after the match: 'He is a machine, I told him after the game. Massive player! The mix of technique, desire and physicality... top goal, he's a fantastic world-class player.'

Villa's Douglas Luiz profited from poor defending to give the hosts the lead after just three minutes, but Joel Matip equalised in the sixth, before Mane's flicked header secured a crucial three points in the Premier League title race.

And Reds captain Jordan Henderson added on the match-winner: 'His performances are always incredible. The amount of work he does for the team, on and off the ball as well.

'Defending at the end, winning the ball high, his quality around the box and you saw that with his finish. He got us the three points but it was always going to be tough, but it is another big game at the weekend.'
