Sadio Mane 'will snub a bigger PSG offer to join Bayern'

Sadio Mane will reportedly reject a higher contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain to join Bayern Munich as he moves closer to leaving Liverpool in the summer.

The Senegalese star has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield as he aims to start the next chapter of his career.

Liverpool are believed to have put a price tag of around £42.5million on Mane, who has one year left on his current deal at Anfield - slightly higher than the £35million initially touted.

Bayern are leading the race to land the 30-year-old and BILD reports Mane would prefer to be a star at the Bundesliga giants, who are set to lose striker Robert Lewandowski in the summer, rather than join a raft of stellar names at PSG or Real Madrid.

According to the German newspaper, PSG have offered Mane a better deal but he is intrigued by a move to Bayern.

BILD also reported that Liverpool are expected to be told by Mane's agent Björn Bezemer that the player, who has scored 120 goals in 269 appearances for Liverpool, wishes to leave and that manager Jurgen Klopp has sanctioned a possible deal.

Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is thought to have sent an offer worth around £17million a season to Mane, which has impressed the frontman.

Mane is keen on the switch to Germany but the situation remains complex.

He had said at press day ahead of the Champions League final that he was going to give 'a very good answer' about his future after the game against Real Madrid but would not speak about it last week as his focus was on Paris.

Mane, though, did not make his way through the mixed zone in the early hours of Sunday morning after the Reds' 1-0 defeat and Liverpool officials were taken aback by reports that he has made his decision about what his next move will be. He has yet to tell them officially about his intentions.

It is becoming increasingly clear, however, that a parting of the ways seems inevitable.

Mane joined Liverpool in June 2016 and, since then, has won six major medals, including the Premier League and Champions League.

While Mane is set to leave, his strike partner Mohamed Salah has committed to the club for the 2022-23 season but could depart as a free agent when his contract expires next summer.

Salah reportedly wants to remain in the Premier League should he fail to reach an agreement with Liverpool over a new deal.
