Salah faces forfeit after losing Liverpool crossbar challenge

Mohamed Salah has been struggling to hit the target of late for Liverpool. Now he appears to have problems missing it, too.

The Egyptian took part in a crossbar challenge with three of his team-mates at Melwood, and he came in last as he lost out in a sudden-death shoot-out.

Coming up against Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Georginio Wijnaldum and Dejan Lovren, you would have expected the striekr to have fancied his chances of success.

He would have been even more confident having watched his English team-mate fluff his lines during the early efforts.

'My calcualtions are just a bit off,' said the Ox. 'That was a warm up.'

When it got down to the real event, Lovren was the surprise package, hitting the woodwork three times and even having the audacity to attempt a rabonna as he toyed with his colleagues.

The other trio struggled, but none more so than Salah, who clipped the bar with his final effort to avoid the iganonmy of finishing bottom and force a sudden-death shoot-out with Wijnaldum and Oxlade-Chamberlain.

As it turned out, it was merely a stay of execution for last season's PFA Player of the Year, as both his opponents found the target, before he fluffed his effort wide.

As punishment, Lovren and the other pair helped Salah through his forfeit of 20 push ups.

Liverpool will be hoping that Salah has rediscovered his touch ahead of Friday.

The Reds travel to Southampton needing a victory to reclaim top spot ahead of Manchester City and put the pressure back on the shoulders of their title rivals.
