Salah 'has life-changing offer' to leave - and Liverpool can't match new salary

William Gallas believes Mohamed Salah has received an offer from the Saudi Pro League that Liverpool won't be able to match.

Despite sitting pretty at the summit of both the Premier League and Champions League, a tainted undercurrent that continues to flow through the Reds’ season is the impending expiration of Salah’s, Virgil van Dijk’s, and Trent Alexander-Arnold's contracts.

The former has been pivotal to Arne Slot’s debut season success, with a league-leading 13 top-flight strikes to his name already, but his outspoken ‘more out than in’ admission after an away victory against Southampton rang warning bells.

Now, ex-Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea defender Gallas admitted that he thinks an offer from the big-spending Saudi Pro League is incoming, and it will be one that Salah simply will not be able to refuse.

Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas suggested: “I think Mo Salah has a big offer from Saudi, and the problem is, I don't think Liverpool can give him what he wants.

“I'm sure the salary that the Saudi’s have offered him is huge money. If Liverpool can’t match the offer or make him an offer that he wants, it looks like at the end of the season, he will go there.”

Liverpool reportedly rejected a near-£150million offer from Al-Ittihad for their Egyptian icon in the summer of 2023, deeming him too valuable to lose. An improved verbal offer was also rebuked, however, this latest saga will be out of their hands entirely.

“He's won everything with Liverpool,” Gallas continued. “You can see with his performances this season that maybe he has got a new target. It looks like he wants to finish as the best scorer in the Premier League, to get the golden boots, and it looks like he wants to win the Premier League or the Champions League again this season.”

Salah currently leads the race for the Golden Boot, and with his side top both domestically and in Europe, he could enjoy a near-perfect season at Anfield. Yet, such success, Gallas feels, will not stop him from departing.

“If you asked me if Salah was more likely to go or more likely to sign a new deal, it looks like he will leave the club,” the ex-Premier League defender concluded.
