Manchester City winger Savinho is close to signing a new contract at the club until 2031.
The 21-year-old’s current deal runs up to 2029.
Savinho missed City’s first three games of the season through injury but has made four appearances and scored his first goal of the campaign in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield Town on Wednesday.
The Brazil international was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.
The Athletic reported in August that Tottenham had approached City over a move for the winger, with a package worth in the region of €50million (£43.3m, $58.2m) was discussed by the clubs.
City’s initial stance was that they did not want to sell Savinho and communicated that in their response to Spurs’ enquiry, and subsequently regarded the matter as closed.
However, other sources with knowledge of the situation regarded Spurs’ pursuit as ongoing. Savinho was open to the move, with City manager Pep Guardiola tending not to stand in the way of players that want to leave the club.
Savinho made 48 appearances for City last season across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists. He joined the club in a €40m from French side Troyes, after spending the 2023-24 season on loan at La Liga team Girona, where he recorded 11 goals and 10 assists, helping the club to a top-four finish and the club’s first ever Champions League berth. Both Troyes and Girona are owned by the City Football Group (CFG).
The 21-year-old came through the academy at Atletico Mineiro in his native Brazil, making his first team debut as a 16-year-old in August 2020. He signed for Troyes in 2022 and had a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven in the 2022-23 season.
Savinho has been capped 13 times by Brazil, scoring once.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said in August that he hoped Savinho would stay at the club in the seasons ahead.
“I am only concerned right now that Savinho will be with us for the rest of the season and hopefully many years because at 21, with the potential he has, he is an extraordinary player,” said Guardiola.“Otherwise, he would not have played more than 3,000 minutes last season. At the end, the desire of the players is above everything but then they have to find an agreement with the club. If they don’t take an agreement, the player will be here.”
