According to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, Inter Milan will activate the €15 million buyout clause to permanently sign Manuel Akanji from Manchester City, extending his contract through 2028.

Schira reports that Inter will trigger the buyout clause to secure Akanji on a permanent basis from City. Both parties have reached a personal agreement on a contract running until 2028, with an annual salary of €3.75 million and an option to extend until 2029.
Should Inter Milan win the 2026 Serie A title, Akanji will remain with the club regardless of whether the buyout clause is exercised.
