Sean Dyche paid tribute to his No 2 Ian Woan's father, who passed away following Covid-19-related complications.
Woan was at Selhurst Park alongside Dyche after losing his father Alan who used to play for Crystal Palace between 1959 and 1961.
Dyche said: 'My assistant unfortunately lost his father overnight to Covid and the complications.
'He didn't mind me saying this because his dad used to play for Palace and I said 'if you don't mind I think it's relevant for you and the family, to remember his career and not just him as a fella.'
'He had a great life, is 90 years old. It's hard for him - he's done brilliant Woany coming down, the commitment to the cause and it's what his dad would have wanted him to do because I know his dad would have been saying 'get on with your job' because that's what he is like.'
Burnley moved 11 points clear of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Dyche’s team seized upon some sloppy Palace defending to take a fifth-minute lead through Johann Berg Gudmundsson after Scott Dann fluffed an attempted clearance.
Jay Rodriguez was then allowed to head home a second from a corner just 10 minutes in at Selhurst Park.
And Burnley made sure of the win, which saw them end the day in 16th, when Matt Lowton scored a stunning volley after exchanging passes with Rodriguez after a driving run.
Woan Sr, an inside forward, started his career in 1953 and played for Norwich City, Northampton Town, Palace and Aldershot.
