Xherdan Shaqiri will miss the start of Liverpool's pre-season after suffering a torn calf injury during Switzerland's Nations League clash with England last month.
The Swiss star reported for training on Monday following the summer break and was assessed by the club's medical team.
But Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Shaqiri now faces a spell on the sidelines and faces a battle to be fit for the start of the 2019-20 campaign.
'Shaqiri is still injured from the national team and it will take a while until he is in again,' Klopp told the club's website.
'He has a tear in his calf, so he will not be involved for a while.'
