Shaw held 'open and frank talks' with Solskjaer after FA Cup error

Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a chat with Luke Shaw 'to try and pick him up' after their FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Wolves.

The Red Devils tumbled out of the competition courtesy of a 2-1 defeat at Molineux on March 16.

Shaw was at fault for Wolves' pivotal second goal as Diogo Jota capitalised on his error.

According to the Sun, the left back had a long discussion with Solskjaer after the game - taking the defeat particularly badly.

An Old Trafford insider said: 'Luke took the Wolves defeat pretty bad. Ole had a chat with him to try and pick him up.

'It was long and frank and he was trying to keep him going. Luke felt he and the rest of the defenders allowed Wolves into the game.

'Ole and Luke spoke after he had dealt with the main squad. They have a good relationship and get on really well.

'It wasn't anything serious but it just shows how much all the squad care for Ole and what he has brought to the club.'

Despite the disappointment at Wolves, United's attention now turns back to the Premier League when they host Watford on Saturday at Old Trafford.

United currently sit fifth in the table - two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in a top-four battle.
