Sheffield United striker Ched Evans is set to join Fleetwood in a permanent deal having had a successful spell there under Joey Barton last season.
Evans, 30, has been told he is surplus to requirements at Bramall Lane with manager Chris Wilder breaking the club transfer record four times this summer as he prepares for life in the Premier League.
Centre forward Oli McBurnie moved from Swansea for £20million last week.
Former Wales international Evans started his career at Manchester City before moving on to Norwich, Chesterfield and Sheffield United.
He scored 18 goals for Barton's League One side last season and talks are currently ongoing about a three-year contract.
With Sheffield United now in the top flight, a deal would have to be concluded by Thursday's transfer deadline.
