Shinji Okazaki eyes move to Spain or Italy as PL winner set to leave Leicester

Shinji Okazaki is set to leave Leicester when his contract runs out at the end of the season in another departure from the side that won the Premier League.

The Japan striker is understood to wish to seek opportunities abroad, in Spain or Italy, and Brendan Rodgers will look to freshen up his attack.

Danny Simpson's future is also uncertain and with talks over any possible new deal yet to take place the prospect is rising that he could become a free agent.

Okazaki, who turns 33 on Tuesday, has seen his first-team opportunities limited since providing the perfect foil to Jamie Vardy as the club claimed a miraculous title.

He joined from Mainz for £7million in the summer of 2015 and signed improved terms after becoming a champion. But he has made only one Premier League start this campaign, coming off the bench 19 times.

Simpson was another integral member of Claudio Ranieri's team, bringing solidity to defence, but he has lost his place to Ricardo Pereira this season, appearing only eight times, and his contract expires this summer.

Leicester could still offer the 32-year-old another deal as a back-up but Rodgers is expected to first see whether signing a new right back to challenge Pereira makes more sense.
