Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is intent on signing Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland, reports Dailymail.
Manchester United have been watching the Norwegian since he broke into previous club Molde's first team under Solskjaer's guidance in 2017 and they are prepared to back their manager despite Salzburg looking for £75million.
Haaland has developed into one of the hottest prospects in Europe and United's interest is being challenged by the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
Despite reports out of Germany that Haaland's father, former Manchester City and Leeds midfielder Alf-Inge, believes a move to the Premier League would be wrong for his son, United have not been deterred.
High level talks have taken place within the club and Solskjaer's coaching staff have discussed the role Haaland can play alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford.
Haaland cost Salzburg a relatively paltry sum of £4.5million and has scored 22 goals in 16 games this season.
