Southampton are closing in on Manchester City’s teenage winger Samuel Edozie.
Talks are ongoing between the two clubs over a deal thought to be worth between £8m-£10m.
An agreement has not yet been finalised but Sportsmail understands negotiations are progressing positively and a deal is on the verge of being agreed.
England Under 19 international Edozie appeared Bayer Leverkusen-bound earlier in the transfer window.
However, Southampton emerged as fellow suitors and are now on course to make him the latest exciting young addition to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad.
Southampton have already signed two promising prospects from City in this window who have quickly established themselves in Hasenhuttl’s team in goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Southampton have also had a £21m bid for PSV star Cody Gakpo and there is still a gap between the two clubs and their respective valuations.
But Southampton remain hopeful they could still pull off a coup and also land the Dutch attacker before the window closes.
