Southampton are set to sign 19-year-old former Chelsea right-back Derrick Abu.
The German-born former England U17 international, who also had interest from Crystal Palace, has also brought out his own rap album going by the stage name of 'Cho$en'.
An attack-minded full-back, he joined the Blues as under 11 level but left the club last season after being released.
‘I have been making music as long as I have been playing football, going to church with my mum and being involved with the church choir. My love for music only grew from there,' Abu said of his music career.
‘I think I had a natural talent and the most important thing is I enjoyed singing so from there it just became a hobby.’
But his football dream isn't over, and he'll likely pick up some minutes for the Saints first team in the Championship as they look to bounce back to the Premier League under Russell Martin.
He had undergone a trial at Palace last season, but didn't join the club and will now drop down a division.
Southampton are also among the clubs checking on Gambia U20 international defender Dembo Saidykhan.
The 19-year-old centre-back from Steve Biko FC impressed at the recent U20 World Cup and has interest from Rangers, FC Nordsjaelland and Toulouse also.
The Saints are in the midst of rebuilding their squad following their relegation from the Premier League and they will look to recruit to suit Martin's possession-based style of plauy.
Vasco Da Gama, meanwhile, have offered to take Southampton defender Lyanco on a season-long loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season. Corinthians are keen too.
The 26-year-old was a bit-part player for the Saints in the Premier League and is unlikely to have a future at the club having played 48 times since joining from Bologna in 2021.
