Argentina have called up Tottenham's new signing Marcos Senesi to their World Cup squad.

Senesi, who only joined Spurs on a free transfer from Bournemouth on Wednesday, was called up on Thursday, just before kick-off in the tournament's opening match.
The defending world champions required a replacement for Leonardo Balerdi, who sustained an injury in training and has had to withdraw from the squad.
Senesi made 39 appearances across all competitions, the joint-most among Bournemouth's outfield players, while also completing more passes (1,839) than any other player for the Cherries.

The 29-year-old has made three appearances for his country since he debuted for Argentina in 2022.
Argentina take on Algeria in their Group J opener on Tuesday, before they face Austria and Jordan.
