Darijo Srna says he will ‘never forget’ Cagliari and will be a fan ‘forever’ after announcing his departure from the club.
Srna joined Cagliari from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer and went on to play 28 times for the Sardinians, helping them preserve their top-flight status.
“It’s difficult to find the right words with which I could express the pride of being one of you at the end of my footballing journey, to have made true friends, met some great players and even greater fans,” wrote the right-back on Instagram.
“Last season, when I was one of you, will remain special to me. As a man, as a sportsman, I’ll never forget the support and friendship I felt among you.
“I’ll never forget the love of the fans and all of you at the club. I wish you all the best in the days and years to come, both on the field and off it.
“Thank you all from my heart, especially to my teammates, fans, coaches, President and all those linked to the club. I’ll be your fan forever.”
The Croat, who turned 37 in May, has been linked with a move to Serie A rivals Parma.
