Tottenham are finally set to land their main man with Pedro Porro in London to complete his £42million transfer from Sporting Lisbon - and the stats show there is cause for optimism in north London.
Antonio Conte's side have struggled for form throughout a turbulent campaign, though they remain just three points off the top-four in the Premier League and are still in both the Champions League and FA Cup.
The prolific Italian's future at the club has become increasingly uncertain, with his deal expiring this summer - though the club have the option of extending by 12 months.
Conte has made it clear he wants to be convinced of Spurs' ambition if he is to commit his future given his reputation as a trophy-winning coach, and Porro's incoming could just be the deal that kickstarts their campaign.
Having not taken to summer signing Djed Spence, and with neither Emerson Royal or Matt Doherty showing even close to the required quality for a Conte team, Porro could provide Tottenham with a signifiant and immedaite boost.
Porro's arrival will also allow Conte to shake up his squad, with Djed Spence set to join Rennes on loan, while Doherty is in Spain finalising a switch to Atletico Madrid. That too will be a loan deal, with no option to buy in place.
But what will Porro - who flew to Luton airport at 2.30am on Tuesday morning ahead of his medical with the north London club - actually provide Tottenham with?
The former Manchester City man, who has also gone on loan spells with Real Valladolid and Sporting Lisbon before joining the Portuguese outfit permanently, will provide a signifcantly more dangerous option down the right flank for his new side.
His goal involvements speak for themselves. Porro has contributed to eight goals in the Primeira Liga this season, as opposed to two from Royal and one from Doherty, having notched two goals and six assists for Sporting.
Porro in his 14 league appaearances has also found himself in attacking areas of the pitch much more frequently, averaging three shots per 90 minutes. Royal has averaged just one, while Doherty has averaged 1.4.
In terms of chances created, there is no comparison. Porro averages 2.8 per 90, with Royal down at 0.4 and Dohert at 0.8. For Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, who have at times been starved of service this year, that will come as a major boost.
Meanwhile, he averages 6.9 open-play crosses per game, as opposed to three from Royal and 2.4 from Doherty. Porro is also much more direct, having completed more dribbles (1.3) than both Royal (0.8) and Doherty (0.70) per 90 minutes.
With Porro in the side, Tottenham begin to assemble a truly threatening right-hand side. With Cristian Romero good with the ball on the right of defence, and Dejan Kulusevski one of Spurs' most integral players, the London side will now have threats down both flanks.
His addition could certainly open up the space for Son and Ivan Perisic on the other side of the pitch.
Where Tottenham fans may have slight concerns is at the back. They have conceded a whopping 31 goals in 21 games, more than any other side in the Premier League top 12.
In just 21 games, Tottenham have conceded 15 goals more than rivals Arsenal and 20 more than Newcastle.
While Porro signficantly outshines Doherty and Royal going forward, he still has room to improve defensively.
Porro averages fewer tackles (1.6) than both Royal (2.6) and Doherty (2.2) per game. This season, he has also been dribbled past once per game, as opposed to 0.7 for Royal and 0.1 for Doherty.
The 23-year-old also makes fewer interceptions, thouh he was won possession more frequently than the other two.
What he will bring, though, is a fresh desire to succeed. Speaking to CMTV about his move to Tottenham, Porro said: 'I am very happy for this step, but I am also leaving a club that has given me everything and I hope it goes well for them.'
When asked whether his desire to leave Sporting Lisbon ruined his friendships at the club, Porro said: 'I left many friends here. They know that since I arrived I am very grateful to them.
'Now, I have to make my life, pursue my dream and I hope that everything goes for the best.'
