Manchester City’s dominance
Manchester City have, with the aid of plenty of financial muscle, dominated the English footballing landscape for the last decade. Six English League cups, as well as five league titles and two FA cups have ensured that they have had comfortably the best period in their history, and have overtaken their city rivals Manchester United for the time being.
This dominance is showing no signs of slowing down either, with Jack Grealish already added to a star-studded squad and the club pushing hard to sign Tottenham’s talisman Harry Kane.
While it remains to be seen whether they will be able to sign the much-coveted centre-forward, they remain a force to be reckoned with regardless, and will certainly be there or there-abouts for the title come May.
Kompany and Silva to be cast in bronze
Ahead of the fixture against Arsenal, the Manchester club are set to honour their recent successes by erecting statues of two players that made it possible.
Both centre-back Vincent Kompany and David Silva are set to have their statues placed outside the Etihad stadium ahead of the lunchtime kick-off against the Gunners on Saturday.
The pair made a combined 796 appearances for Manchester City, lifting the Premier League trophy four times and cementing their places in history books with a series of memorable moments, none more so than Kompany’s title-winning goal in the 2018-19 season.
It remains to be seen whether the likes of Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure will join the pair in being cast in bronze outside the Etihad anytime in the future.
