Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling took to Twitter after he helped his side thrash Premier League champions Liverpool 4-1 on Thursday night.
Sterling, who scored twice against his former club, responded after receiving abuse online after the match.
The England international tweeted: 'Wow so much abuse in here (laughing faces), its just a game people, you win some, you lose some'.
Jurgen Klopp's side were crowned Premier League champions last Thursday, after Chelsea beat Sterling and Co 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
However, in their first match as champions, and after recieving a guard of honour from their title rivals City, Liverpool were humbled in a crushing 4-0 defeat against Pep Guardiola's side.
Man of the match Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring after Sterling was taken down inside the box by Joe Gomez.
It was the winger who then doubled the hosts lead before Phil Foden made it three before the half-time whistle.
Sterling then scored his second of the night to top off a resounding victory for the Citizens, who took one step closer to securing a second place finish in the league table.
Despite dominating Liverpool on the evening, Sterling had plenty of praise for his former club, as he hailed them as 'brilliant' after their emphatic title win.
After the match, he told Sky Sports: 'They've been brilliant all year, we knew we had to go out there strong. We started really well, credit to the boys.
'We knew we were behind, we knew we were disappointed we lost some games we shouldn't have lost. We had a test to make a point and I think we did brilliantly.
'Next season starts today and I think we did well.
'I won a penalty and scored two. I'm joking, the most important thing is we've got the win.
'It's a team that's evolving, someone like Phil you can see the way he's playing like someone who has been in the team for eight years.
'We know we've got the FA Cup and the Champions League. The Premier League games are leading up to that and we've got to finish strong.'
