Raheem Sterling had the perfect response when asked to join Arsenal by Piers Morgan.

Sterling was awarded the Integrity and Impact Award at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2019 after speaking out against racist abuse in football.

Gunners fan Morgan, who has previously been a vocal critic of Sterling, took to Twitter to congratulate the Manchester City and England forward.

The Good Morning Britain presenter posted: "Congrats Sterling. Your continued evolution as a footballer & a man of important cultural influence is very impressive."

Sterling thanked Morgan for his congratulations, adding: "I've come a long way."

Morgan responded: "Haha, you have. But more power to you. Life's about self-improvement & you've turned yourself into a brilliant role model on & off the pitch. "Now, since I've got your ear, how about joining Arsenal?"

But the ex-Liverpool flier was having none of it.

"I'm running out of battery, sorry," he posted, with three running emojis.

Sterling is enjoying the most prolific season of his career, matching his tally of 23 goals from last term with three Premier League games and the FA Cup final remaining.

He has also scored four times in two appearances for England and is set to be a key man for Gareth Southgate in the Three Lions' UEFA Nations League finals campaign in Portugal this summer.
