Newcastle target Steve Bruce has stepped down as manager of Sheffield Wednesday, according to reports.
Bruce has been heavily linked with the vacant Newcastle managerial job following Rafa Benitez's shock departure from St James' Park.
And it seems only a matter of time that Bruce will be appointed Newcastle boss as according to the Times, he resigned as Wednesday boss on Monday morning alongside his assistants Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence.
