Suso has apologised for his red card during Milan’s 2-1 victory over SPAL but argued it was ‘quite unfair’.

Suso was sent off for two bookable offences towards the end of Saturday’s match at San Siro, ruling the attacking midfielder out of the Supercoppa against Juventus on January 16.

“I’m sorry. For my club, for my teammates, for my fans, for my Coach. For myself,” wrote the Spaniard on Instagram.

“[It was] a red card that was perhaps avoidable and, in my opinion, quite unfair.

“Certainly no-one will give me back the chance to play and help my team in the Supercoppa against Juventus.

“As for everything else... [it was] an excellent three points, [I’m] happy for Gonzalo Higuain and his goal.

“The Champions League is there at our fingertips. Happy New Year and Happy 2019, which will start with so much anger on my part, however!”
