Manchester United are flying high, and reports suggest it could still prove to be a busy period in the transfer market at Old Trafford as the club look to balance the squad

Manchester United are riding the crest of a wave after an inspired run since Michael Carrick took temporary charge. With two wins in two over Premier League title hopefuls, the Red Devils are in the Champions League places and looking up, rather than down.

The transfer window looks to be a quiet one at Old Trafford with the uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation, despite Carrick's impressive start. However, it hasn't stopped the rumour mill sparking a new wave of speculation at the Theatre of Dreams with the likes of Chelsea star Cole Palmer mooted.

For the former Middlesbrough head coach and his squad, their focus for the remainder of the season will be on maintaining their run of form and keeping their top four challengers at bay.

Man United to step up interest in Kader Meite

According to The Guardian, Manchester United are considering whether to step up their interest in Kader Meite.

The Red Devils are said to have held talks with the 18-year-old's representatives over a possible move. It has been reported that Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal are eyeing a move for the Rennes striker.

Meite will reportedly cost in the region of €30million (£26m) with the France under-21 international having two-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal at the Ligue 1 side.

He has three goals and two assists in 17 French top-flight appearances and has already attracted the glare of Europe's top teams with Paris Saint-Germain also mooted with a move, while reports elsewhere claim Crystal Palace and Chelsea are keeping tabs.

Meite has enjoyed a meteoric rise having only made his debut as a 17-year-old in November 2024.

Andre Onana linked with a permanent exit

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly headed towards an Old Trafford exit having been usurped by Senne Lammens as United's number one.

The Daily Mail has claimed that the Cameroon shot-stopper's agents have held talks with Inter Milan over a possible return. Onana joined United from the Serie A giants after hitting heights at the San Siro during their run to the Champions League final in 2023.

The shot-stopper is currently on loan at Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig, having made the switch following the arrival of Lammens as Ruben Amorim made changes to his goalkeeping department.

The report adds that the 29-year-old has not given up on his career at United but is expected to leave the club permanently as the prospect of replacing Yann Sommer emerges.

Onana's form in Turkey is said to have alerted Inter of his resurgence with the goalkeeper between the sticks for Trabzonspor's mere three defeats in 16 matches.

Zirkzee attracting Premier League interest

It is reported by teamTALK that United forward Joshua Zirkzee has attracted interest from struggling Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dutchman has had limited minutes at Old Trafford this season following the arrival of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

United are said to be reluctant to sanction the sale and weaken their side in the middle of the season, especially with the club in the hunt for Champions League qualification as they sit in the driving seat currently.

Zirkzee has managed just nine goals and four assists in 65 outings, leading to increasing speculation over his future with a return to Serie A repeatedly mooted.
